Level Up — Support

Train. Track. Level Up.

The basics

How do I check in?

On the Today tab, tap Take Progress Photo, snap a gym photo, and lock it in. Each check-in earns XP and keeps your streak alive.

What are rest days and streak freezes?

Your weekly goal sets how many days you plan to train — the remaining days are free rest days that cost no XP and don't break your streak. On top of that you bank a streak freeze for every full week you keep a streak, which automatically covers an unplanned missed day.

Why did I lose XP?

Missing days beyond your rest days and freezes costs XP, and enough missed days can drop you a rank. Check in, set a realistic weekly goal, and your rest days and freezes will keep you protected.

How do I turn reminders on or off?

Reminders are standard iOS notifications. Manage them in Settings → Notifications → Level Up on your device.

Friends and challenges

Do I need an account?

No. Level Up works completely without one. You only sign in if you want the optional Friends features — training partners, nudges, the leaderboard, and challenges.

How do I add a friend?

Open the Friends tab and sign in with Apple. Tap at the top to share your friend code or enter theirs. They'll get a request to accept, and once they do you'll see each other's progress.

What can my friends see?

Only your display name, avatar, streak, level, rank, XP, and which days you trained. They never see your progress photos, your bodyweight, or your notes — those never leave your phone.

What is a nudge?

A friendly poke. Tap 👋 next to a friend who hasn't trained yet and they'll get a notification. It's a fixed message — there's no chat in Level Up — and they can nudge you right back.

How do challenges work?

Create a challenge from the Friends tab, pick a weekly goal, and invite friends. Everyone's progress counts the days they check in during that week. Whoever actually shows up wins.

Someone is bothering me. What do I do?

Long-press any friend or incoming request and choose Block or Report. Blocking is immediate and stops all further requests and nudges between you. Reports come straight to us and we review them within 24 hours.

Steps and widgets

How do I show my steps on the home screen?

On the Today tab, the app can display today's step count next to your streak. The first time, iOS asks permission to read Steps from Apple Health — tap Allow. Steps are read-only: Level Up never writes to Health, and your steps never leave your device. You can change or revoke this any time in the Health app → Sharing → Apps → Level Up.

Can I change my step goal?

Yes — open Settings (the gear icon on the Today tab) and pick your Daily step goal.

How do I add the widget?

Touch and hold an empty area of your Home or Lock Screen, tap (Edit), search for Level Up, and add the size you want. The widget shows your streak, level, and steps. Widgets are a Level Up Pro feature.

Level Up Pro

What is Level Up Pro?

The app is free to use. Level Up Pro is an optional upgrade that unlocks unlimited accountability partners, your full check-in history, bodyweight tracking, before/after comparisons, and Home & Lock Screen widgets. It's offered as a monthly or yearly subscription, or a one-time Lifetime purchase — the current price and any free-trial terms are always shown on the purchase screen before you buy.

How do I manage or cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are handled by Apple, not by us. On your device open Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions (or the App Store → your account → Subscriptions), choose Level Up, and change or cancel it there. If you cancel, Pro stays active until the end of the period you've already paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.

I already paid — how do I restore Pro on a new device?

Open the Pro screen in the app and tap Restore. As long as you're signed in to the same Apple ID that bought it, your Pro access will come back.

How do refunds work?

All purchases are processed by Apple, so refund requests go through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Your data

Where are my photos and data stored?

Your progress photos, bodyweight, and notes are stored only on your device and are never uploaded — not even if you sign in. If you do sign in for Friends, your display name and streak stats are synced so your friends can see them. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.

How do I delete a photo?

Open any progress photo and tap the trash icon.

How do I delete all my data?

Tap the gear icon on the Today tab to open Settings. If you signed in, tap Delete account first — this permanently erases your profile, stats, and friend connections from our servers. Then delete the app from your device to remove everything stored locally. Deleting the app alone does not delete your account.
